  • Not As Expected - Not So Hybrid - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
    By -

I got a pre-owned thinking most problems been solved. There still are, the infamous squeaks at the battery area, loose and squeaky front airbag. Consumption is great below 30mph, not at the hiway. Comfortable ride anyhow. Bad attendance for recalls, not all techs knows about hybrid. Power window switch fails, not just on my Escape but on my Focus as well.

  • How to increase mileage? - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
    By -

I am very pleased with the 2006 Ford Escape hybrid, which I have owned for 1 week. I miss a few features I had on my Saab 9-3 (radio controls on steering wheel, day lights and ignition on console) but otherwise am quite pleased. It is peppy and fun to drive. I have not however achieved great mileage - in fact, I would appreciate any tips. I got 27 on the highway and even less in the city, which is opposite of what I expected. I admit to having a little bit of a heavy foot, so I have tried to ease up on the peddle. Do others find that the gas engine kicks in very quickly. I certainly dont drive at 25 mph on the electric engine.

  • Major Repair After 41K - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
    By -

After 1 year, 9 months (41,200 miles) and two recall notices, my 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid AWD had a transfer case break. The transfer case was back ordered for at least two weeks. In my opinion, a all wheel drive SUV should not have major repairs with just 41,000 miles. This is especially true because Ford has had a reputation of good and sturdy cars. I had been very please with the other 5 Ford Vehicles that I have owned (3 new, 2 used). I encourage anyone to consider very carefully my experience before they purchase a Ford.

  • Pleased overall - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid

This vehicle has cut my weekly fuel cost from $80 to $35. ThatÂ’s a $2600 yearly savings and I did not have to do anything other than change vehicles. The vehicle is comfy with plenty of amenities. My family is very pleased so far. I do not mind that these vehicles are not perfect and I am grateful that manufacturers are finally making a product that uses less fuel, cannot wait for improved models in the future.

  • I Love My Escape Hybrid - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid

I love my new Escape Hybrid. The last time I had so much fun driving a vehicle was as a college senior when I got my first new car. (I have a college senior and junior of my own now). The car drives and rides beautifully and I feel that I am doing my part to help our environment. I am an SUV kinda gal so am thrilled that Ford came out with one that has decent gas mileage. I am averaging 32 mpg which is a lot better than my Explorer was getting. I do get a kick out of the "stealth mode". OK, I taught kindergarten for years so I still have a lot of the kid in me. I think it is pretty cool that my little SUV can sneak up on folks who are walking down the middle isle of a parking lot.

  • Beware: "Intelligent 4WD" in Hybrids - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
    By -

I bought this model for its advertised capability of the Intelligent 4wd system, and was surprised to find out that I was unable to back up over a 6 inch rock. It turns out that the electric engine alone is engaged in reverse - severely limiting power and acceleration in. I highly discourage you from buying this vehicle if reverse is important to you (i.e. driving off-road at all or parking on a sloped driveway). I complained to Ford, and was told that nothing could be done. Aside from this issue, the mileage was as advertised, and I had no other problems. However, I bought the 4wd model to be confident in modest off-road conditions.

  • great car - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid

Makes me a believer in hybrids. Great mileage (averages 30) and well built. Have had no problems. Only negative is the ride is a little hard but it is a 4 wheel drive small truck.

Really a great vehicle, good performance, nice size, gets the mileage we expected (30.0 mpg in both city and highway w/AWD), fun to drive, excellent quality.

  • I love my SUV - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
    By -

I love the fact that I am in a Green car and its an SUV. It runs great. I bought the 4wd with all the goodies possible; both interior and exterior look good to me. Only a few complaints, the mileage is not near what was expected. I actually do very little driving, mostly around town with lots of stops, I am getting about 25-27 mpg. The NAV system works really easily compared to my other car, however it will not allow you to program while driving. I know that is a safety feature but a passenger can program too! Last complaint is that the cruise control buttons should light up to make it easier to set at night. Other than that, love my car and glad I bought it.

  • Excellent Vehicle - 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid
    By -

Our vehicle has so far performed as advertised. Weve gotten acceptable MPG though it is very dependent on driver habits. In order to exclusively use the electric motor, you must gently accelerate from a stop. This of course is difficult if you find yourself in front of traffic. The quality, ride, and features are great.
